How Can I Explain To My Hair Stylist What I Want?

All our appointments at Lloyds Hair Salon begin with a full consultation.  This allows you and your stylist to discuss your ideas and agree exactly how you want your hair done. Our highly trained stylists have the expertise, skills and knowledge to ask you the right questions and listen to your requirements to create a style that is tailored to you. We will assess your hair type, skin tone, lifestyle (i.e. how much time you have each day to look after & style your hair), personal style, budget and more, to create the perfect hairstyle for you.

If you’ve found a photo of the hairstyle that you’d like us to recreate, make sure to bring it to your appointment! Whether it’s your favourite celebrity’s hairstyle, a cut-out from a magazine, a selfie from Instagram…we’ll do our best to make it work for you.

What Does Finishing Mean On Your Hair Service List?

Finishing your hair comes at the end of your appointment, and it is when we blow-dry and style your new haircut exactly as you’d like it, so you’ve got a perfect finish. Straighteners or tongs may also be used to style your new do, alongside the best products to add shine and to keep your new hairstyle looking fabulous for as long as possible after you’ve left our Clonmel salon. The phrase 'finishing' is a little old fashioned, but you’re likely to see it on many hair salon service lists, so it’s good to learn the lingo!

Can I Just Book A Trim?

Yes, and this is something we highly recommend! To maintain your hair and keep it looking & feeling healthy, it’s important to book in for regular appointments. When you book a Cut & Finish at Lloyds Hair Salon in Tipperary, we’re happy to just trim off any split ends or to shorten your fringe slightly so it doesn’t hang over your eyes. If you come in for regular trims, these small adjustments can often make a big difference to how good your hair looks! You don’t need to wait until you need a lot chopped off to book an appointment!

Why Do I Need A Patch Test?

At Lloyds Hair Salon in Clonmel, we are dedicated to providing the best services which means your health and safety is always our top priority.  Although allergic reactions to hair dye tend to be rare, they can still happen, which is why it’s important that you follow our rules & guidelines on patch testing. We use top quality hair products from Kevin Murphy and Schwarzkopf, but to ensure your safety, if you haven’t had your hair dyed by us in the past 3 months, we will require you to have a quick allergy patch test at least 48 hours before your colour service. It’s a simple procedure where we’ll just need you to come into the salon to quickly have a small amount of hair colour product dabbed behind your ear to test for any reactions. We will always let you know if you need a patch test with us.

Why Do Your Charges Vary Between Different Stylists?

Our stylists are all highly trained and skilled, but some have more experience than others. This means that a service with a stylist who’s been a hairdresser for 10 years or more, will be more expensive than a service with one of our newly qualified stylists. At Lloyds Hair Salon, all of our stylists will offer you a great service, so what’s most important is you find someone you feel comfortable and at ease with to let them know exactly what you want.  This is why we recommend popping in for a consultation ahead of your appointment with one of our expert team.   That way you can get to know them and decide who’s the right fit for you.

Should I Get My Hair Cut Or Hair Colour Done First?

For the best results, we recommend you book your hair cut & colour service for the same day so that we can ensure they work together to look fabulous on you.

As a first step we recommend you pop in for a consultation ahead of your hair appointment with one of our team.  This allows us to assess your hair and discuss the hair colouring process with you.  So you don’t have to pop back to the salon, we can give you a quick patch test there and then, so you’ll be ready for your colour service appointment!   We will of course carry out a consultation at the start of your appointment too.

Please Note : Due to Covid restrictions on the number of clients we are able to have in the salon at any one time, our usual pop-in pre-visit consultation service is currently suspended.

Once we re-open, please phone the salon on +353 52 612 5996 and we will let you know when you are able to call in.   Alternatively, if you are passing, please pop in and we will let you know when to call back if we are unable to accommodate you straight away for a consultation.    Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What’s The Difference Between Traditional Highlights and Balayage?

Over the years, the names for hair colouring techniques have developed from just highlights to ombre, balayage, babylights & more! It can sometimes be difficult to keep up with the ever changing technical language of hairdressing, but we’re here to make your life easier with a quick summary of what some of these words mean…

You may have heard of highlights before, but you might not know what this entails. Traditional highlights are applied using foil to the sections of the hair where hair colour product has been applied. The foil keeps in the heat while the product saturates the hair and this helps the highlights to develop to the right level of brightness for a fantastically intense colour result. The structured pattern in which foil highlights are applied offers a more obvious contrast between the lightened strands than the colouring technique ‘balayage’ would. If you’re looking to add some depth and dimension throughout your hair, then highlights may be the colouring technique for you.

Balayage is a more bespoke hair colouring technique that involves highlights being hand-painted onto sections of your hair. This produces a more natural, sun-kissed look as your skilled Lloyds colourists will apply the lighter colour to the areas of your hair that would naturally lighten if you had been on holiday in the sun. The colour is applied in small, thin strokes at the top of the hair & gradually gets thicker as it moves down your hair for a beautifully blended look.

For the best balayage in Clonmel, visit Lloyds Hairdressing Salon! If you’re ever unsure what a word or term means, just ask one of our expert team and they’ll be happy to explain anything you don’t know or understand. To find out more about balayage & ombre, click here.

How Can I Stop My Hair Looking Frizzy?

If your hair is feeling unruly & unmanageable, we have the solution! We would recommend trying a Keune Keratin Straightening Rebonding System which is a hair smoothing treatment that reduces frizz, making it easier to manage. This hair smoothing treatment will leave your hair straighter, smoother, stronger and healthier, and will remain that way for months.
